[There's a lapse in messages of several minutes as she tries and fails to control her breathing. Tries harder when her fingers go numb and black creeps in at the edges of her vision, forcing painfully measured breaths. Her head is swimming and her hands shaking when she reaches for the tablet again, but she is breathing.]
[He's mildly concerned, but given that there's hell all he can do, he just sets out from the funeral home and waits for her continued response. House shows her a video of the snow around him. They're going to have to play charades if she wants to talk.
He points at the tablet - at her - again, and mouths 'yes.']
[To her credit, he looks momentarily alarmed for roughly two seconds. Then he actually processes what she's said. House rolls his eyes again, taps his head, makes a cutting motion with his fingers, and shakes his head. He's not cutting your head open, Ecks. He points to her and then mimes sleeping. Rest.]
[Why didn't that work? She's a little upset by the way he looked when it seemed like it would work, but she's also disappointed it did not continue to work.]
That is all I do anymore....
[And also the reason she's here in this dark house instead of exploring the tunnels.]
I do not want you to die again. You are going to die again. You always die again.
[Whatever turmoil she's feeling, all House gets is a blank stare and a hitch in her breathing now and then as she still tries to regain her equilibrium. There are sometimes advantages to having to make an active effort at expression.
She's silent, too, long enough that a normal person would probably be uncomfortable. She does break the impasse first, though.]
[She stares at him a while longer. Partly she isn't even sure of her answer. Partly. she thinks he simply should not know the answer to something he keeps asking this way.
Finally, though, she relents.]
You are like someone I used to know, mostly in the good ways and mostly not in the bad ways.
[House reminds her of her creator - daddy. Well, that's awesome. Ecks really needs to get more of a life. House sighs, then shows her his fingers walking across his palm. It's followed up by miming eating in exaggerated fashion. He's going to get food.]

text -> video
[Well, that isn't working. Frustrated, she switches to uncharacteristic video. She's still shaking, her breathing not entirely back to normal.]
Where are you going?

Why?
He points at her and repeats the motion.
Why does she care?]

House points to himself, then he points to her and shakes his head. That's where he is going, not you, Ecks.]

I am going to explore all of the tunnels before you have seen any of the tunnels.
[It kind of worked before, right?]
