[That's a lot of flattery coming from a guy House has royally pissed off. It makes him suspicious. Is Flynn just trying to get back on his good side? Well. Obviously. But is that his only angle?
House is certainly learning a lot, mixing in what Flynn's already taught him and what he can dredge up from his memories about hieroglyphs.]
a single mold will suit the foot soldiers, not a pharaoh
i question your creative kindness
[He means 'flattery,' but doesn't have the symbol for that.]
[That is a weird shift and it briefly confuses Flynn.
House questions it? What does he question? Flynn tries to work around the meanings, tries to figure out if he's being creative with the language again (mainly if House is insulting him and he doesn't realize it...) but comes up with a blank.]
[Well, that's interesting. So House is acknowledging that he's a dick. It makes him think of his conversation with Gabriel and Flynn pauses to really think this over. Why is he talking to House?]
[Vanity. That, at least, settles House somewhat. Vanity and desperation to feel relevant to someone. He can use that to his advantage, really. There's a small, niggling voice in the back of his mind that says to maybe let Flynn be, he's better off not getting mixed signals. Flynn is better off not getting close to because he knows. He's seen House at one of his most vulnerable stages. And he probably still sees some part of that little body who'd been so excited about hieroglyphs and adventures and learning.
That's not who the doctor is anymore, though.
But he could use it to his advantage...]
i like receiving it
do not grow accustomed to this
[He uses the hieroglyph for a growing plant where he means it more metaphorically.]
[At least that's what Flynn is telling himself. He will, however, continue with the lesson for a little while longer. If they can officially label it that now.
It's nice to do something and put his knowledge to use. He always liked doing that, even back when he was still at university, going over his classmates' translations. Flynn likes being right and yes, he likes being important which doesn't happen all that much around here. The lesson also keeps him occupied in the middle of too many painful memories (his own and others') that are still blaring through his head like angry fire horns, impossible to ignore.
So yes, he will spend the night drawing more symbols and exchanging the occasional bad pun until the need for sleep gets the better of them.]

what is the value?
[Rightly or wrongly, he uses the symbol that Flynn gave him for money as a stand in for value.]
