So... something a little strange happened, and I thought I should probably report it a little more explicitly than just the videos we've been trading back and forth.
To start with, we came across a kind of... shrine, for lack of a better word. I sent you images of it previously, but I did leave out a small detail. I thought it might provoke a reaction if I imitated whoever made that place and sort of... offered it blood of my own. It seemed like a logical step at the time- that's obviously what the place was used for. And, well, it did provoke a reaction.
[Hange shows the camera the back of their hand, with its brand-new black eye symbol. If they're worried about this, they're doing a decent job of hiding it.]
I thought it might fade or rub off after a couple of days, but it's still here.
Interesting. [Well, you'll at least get him on audio, if not video, Hange. It's more courtesy than most get.] You're not the first one to get that mark. Freamon got one, too, when she called for the prophet in one of the houses. [Secrets mean nothing in the face of science and he already told Kesara he's not honest and she can't trust him.]
When we had the static, did you draw eyes or erase them?
[Not the first? Well, that's comforting at least. It means someone else has had this happen and not died horribly, (as far as Hange knows,) so in theory...]
I... drew them. Do you think that's the connection? What did Kesara do?
Probably drew them. But she got hers before the static. Went looking for the Prophet in one of the buildings in the residential area. Think it's how she got the Eye App, too.
So the Prophet, whatever they are, still has some power here. Do you think the mark is a positive, or a negative? Although, I suppose that would depend on whose side the Prophet is on in the first place.
I think it's part of a puzzle. No idea what that'll end up meaning. There's a special ragdoll in the tunnels with an eye symbol on it. Think that's part of the puzzle, too. Still working out what exactly we need to do to solve it. It'll probably have something to do with accessing one of the major areas.
The one on the chair, right? It did seem important, but we couldn't get a reaction out of it. Doesn't seem like there was anything inside of it, either.
I guess if there's a locked door at the end of these tunnels, we'll know where to look for a key.
Or a little further on past this. I dunno what we're gonna be dealing with for the destruction. You saw that vid. The eastern half of the town got blown to hell.
Yeah... it seems likely that from here we won't be dealing with places that are quite as intact as the ones we've been through. There could very well be a lot more walls of rubble.
[Or just... nothing but rubble.]
I'd compare it to the difference between the residential areas and the tunnels here, but this damage all looks pretty man-made.
We know there's a spiral path and there's a power plant in the northeast corner we can use as a guide for when to start heading south. If enough of it's still intact to be recognizable.
The extent of the tunnel damage seems too much for man-made. I'm just wondering what the hell is up with the ice wall covering half the buildings, but leaving places like downtown and the residential areas uncovered. I'm sure it's the 'maze' design, but why? Increased difficulty level and limited movement as we move forward?
I think I'll have to rely on descriptions for what a "power plant" looks like, but here's hoping there's enough of it left.
The overall destruction I would assume was caused by this bomb, but the internal destruction, all of the ruined furniture and twisted metal- I think that was deliberate. I think even some of the crushed rooms were deliberate- the shapes left behind in some cases are just too intentional.
But I agree that the snow wall seems... well, also intentional, but it makes no sense. I have trouble believing that the snow would just happen to not fall as heavily on certain areas, but the only reasons I can think of for building walls are to keep things in, or to keep things out. Or in this case, potentially both. We're obviously what they want to keep in- didn't Miller say something about losing their control over us outside of town?
But as for which areas of the city they decided to wall in and which they didn't, and why they didn't simply let us have the run of the whole place, I can't say. It's probably tied up with why they keep information away from us, and don't help in cases where they most likely could.
It'll be a huge factory-like building. Usually relatively isolated.
Agreed on the internal damage for some of the buildings, though. We do know the Admin has robots at its disposal. Maybe they're only designated to certain parts of the city? We need more info. [Isn't that always the way of it?]
I'll keep you updated on anything else I find. Also might wanna keep an eye on that mark. See if it reacts with anything.
