y'know, the thing people forget about angels? in the old testament they bring down cities and murder little children in their sleep "and do not complain, as some of them did and were killed by the destroying angel"
[Know thy enemy. House may not be a religious man, but he knows the books.]
That's right, people tend to just think of the sweet things on top of Christmas trees, and not the things made out of eyes and tongues and four wings. Even more people forget that Gabriel was originally the Angel of Death over kings. Other angels got things like 'children' and 'animals'.
But it's not too surprising that people forget. My mom was one of the few people really into that stuff.
carrie: a quiet, bullied, misfit that no one ever really cared about daddy's out of the picture raised by a bible thumping, vindictive and crazy mom discovers she has magical powers and goes on a killing rampage after being humiliated at prom
We weren't really a Stephen King household. And Mom wasn't much of a bible thumper. She just liked angels. And snow globes. And angels in snow globes. She loves kitschy stuff.
Although I don't know what she'd do if it turned out to be one of those old-time angels. That's probably what'd be in the Norfinbury snow globe.
[He notices you glossed over that. The crazy is a probably, the vidictive is a maybe at this point in House's mind. Might explain a few things about Mr. Gray.]
Most people in our neighborhood probably would've called her eccentric. I learned early on that she had panic attacks. I'd help her through them as best I could, but she wouldn't admit they were an issue.
neither is my team it's still instinct to refer to them in the present tense which means you're either consciously overcoming that or you're a big fat liar recent history points us in a direction
that's handy how many sets of abilities did you have? setting up your own little collection? apple doesn't fall far from the tree
[You mentioned Patient Zero, friend? He's also reassessing the mom thing in light of that. If she didn't have any powers, it doesn't seem like there'd be a reason for the guy to off her.]
[ And that's what Sylar wanted out of this exchange. House wasn't going to stop pressing, so he'd give him enough details to tell that Sylar wasn't going to start hunting here. It's been freeing talking so openly about this, but he's still hesitant to outright admit to the murders.
...ah, well. He's never been that great at hiding, anyway. ]
My ability was passive- always on. But if you're talking about taking other people's powers?
I mean, most people do like to keep their brains on the inside.
you examine the structure of their brain and how it works and that lets you mimic their abilities?
[Okay, admittedly, on a level removed from the horrific murder thing, that's really frickin' cool. On the level not removed from the horrific murder thing, that's horrifying, though.]
do you alter your own brain? how does that even work?
[ You're asking him how? He knew you were something of a kindred spirit, House. ]
For some of them, it's a change in hormonal composition to properly activate the appropriate functions. That sort of thing is something my ability mostly handles, since knowing how my own body works lets me have an exceptional amount of control over it. For some powers, I do have to alter my own brain slightly. That's a lot easier with the telekinesis.
Every ability is unique, so it's always hard to tell what I'm going to get until I take a look at it.
[He can't help himself sometimes. It's one of his vices. He always wants to know how. Also, again. That is really cool.]
does your ability only allow you to figure things out with invasive techniques? have you tested it with things like medical scans and tests to put everything together that way?

i'm sensing the beginnings of a carrie backstory here
what about daddy?
or was he never in the picture?
no subject
Dad left when I was five. Literally went out for cigarettes and never came back.

so was she your actual first victim?
or are we still going with the girlfriend story for the guy you were impersonating?

Let's just say telekinesis was not my first or only ability.

I suppose you're right. Although I only had five by the time I got here, so I don't know how much that counts as a 'collection'.

power leeching
telekinesis
melting metal
what else?
no subject
And my ability wasn't power leeching, really. It tells me how things work and how to fix what's broken.
