So, how bad would it be for a young child to be subsisting almost entirely off raw meat? Rabbit, mostly, and probably some bugs and whatever she pulled out of the ground. That's not going to work out long-term, right?
It's the Wild Things girl, right? Kid's going to get protein poisoning soon, if she doesn't have it already. Scurvy, too, unless she's been eating the fruits on the trees, too. You planning to play papa? Because I don't envy you, Gray.
Make her eat something fatty. Get some milk into her. Some vegetables wouldn't hurt. I can see about getting her some vitamin supplements for what I'm guessing are some major issues, but you'll have to mete that out daily. I'm imagining if you give her a jar of vitamin gummies she'll just eat them all at once. And that's a whole lot of OTHER problems.
Yeah, the vitamins are going to be a special problem. Gummies are going to be too weird for her anyway- she doesn't like to chew too much and she's not used to sugar. Maybe I can crush some normal vitamins and mix them into food. And of course, that's assuming she'll eat what I leave for her.
But yeah, I think I'll see if I can help her out. Toriel's usually the go-to for kids, but this one is going to need a light touch. And probably a lot of eyes on her so she can be 'left to her own devices' for awhile.
I suspect she's eating fruit, but probably not enough. I'm going to take her hunting, see if I can't get a better idea of what she's up to.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. What are the signs of protein poisoning? I know what to look for with scurvy.
Standard stuff is nausea, headache, mood changes, fatigue/weakness (might be coupled with a slow heart rate and low bp), being constantly hungry (funny enough), and diarrhea.
And someone needs to use a firm hand with the Lost Girl. Where's CPS when you actually need it? She might not like it, but someone needs to tame the feral cat. She's going to end up more traumatized and stunted if someone doesn't start forcing her to take care of herself.
[ Ugh, he'd been coming to House because he didn't want a lecture about this. Or anyone else coming up with an 'action plan' to deal with Lilly. But apparently doctors gotta doctor. ]
Well, it's not going to be me. Anyone forces her into anything, and she'll disappear into the woods the next chance she gets. She'd have to be under constant lock and key, and I can't do that to her.
You're welcome to have at it, but I doubt you want to be that involved, either.
[ Gabriel leaves it at that. There'd be no point in admitting to House that he doesn't trust himself to know what would be helpful and what would only harm Lilly more- he's messed up royally in that area a time or two back home. He's also not at all interested in playing the villain with the kid, even if it would be better for her.
And hey, he even thanked the guy already, so- yeah, for now, they're done. Thanks, House. ]
[ A package is left outside House's front door, secured against the elements with a rain poncho and tape. Inside is a ridiculously large box- a 50-season DVD set of General Hospital, starting from the beginning. A small note is attached that says "Merry Christmas!" and nothing more. ]
[House recognizes Gabriel's handwriting and spends the next two days pounding his soaps. After that, Gabriel will find a simple deck of playing cards in his mailbox along with a brief note.]
I'm bored. Let's do strip poker, or something. Invite hot people and me. -GH

Just saying.
Do whatever you're going to do, Gray. Coddling her at this point is just stupid.
