first off there was a freakish genetic experiment part but that had to do with slime cloning babies into existence back before the bird thing was even close to happening
the bird thing is because of time travel and video game mechanics

so some friends and i played this game that coincided with the end of the world
the whole thing is predicated on a lot of stable time loops including the slime baby thing
they go back in time via meteor to land in the past and eventually become our present selves
its weird but whatever
but another part of the game is that each player has a title and a role
i was the time guy
and when my friend got himself killed by listening to a troll it split things off into an alternate timeline because it wasnt how stuff was supposed to go
if he died then it would have caused a lot of time paradoxes and uncompleted loops etc etc
and other stuff couldnt happen in the more mundane sense
so me and my sister played it out alone together for a while learning what we could and upping our skills and stuff
and eventually i hopped back in time to the point before my friend died and got him to stop being an idiot
then like
theres these things called sprites that serve as a guide for each player and if you prototype them they take on the form of the thing you put in them
mine already had a dead crow in it
and in my timeline i stuck something stupid in
so instead of subjecting my past self to that i jumped in
and thats why im an orange bird dude

and no that was my server players fault
there was a dead crow on the roof and she felt bad for it so she dumped it in the kernel
the kernel is a thing that becomes the sprite btw
theres too many bullshit terms in this game so just trust me when i say im simplifying as much as i can
